What shape should my video be for a laptop mockup?
Widescreen 16:9 fills the screen exactly. Other landscape shapes fit too, with a little more backdrop showing; nothing is cut off.

Put a screen recording or film on a laptop, a flat TV, a desktop monitor, a browser window or a retro set with knobs, and export it as a video.
To make a laptop mockup video, open a widescreen clip above. This page starts on Laptop in a 16:9 frame: your footage plays on the screen, a keyboard base sits below it, and a pale gradient fills the space round the machine. Press Export video to save a moving mockup for a product page, a pitch or a course.
Laptops, the flat TV and the desktop monitor are made for 16:9, so a standard screen recording or YouTube-style clip fills the screen exactly. Each device is a generic drawing, built from simple shapes, with no maker’s logo. For upright footage, use the phone mockup instead, and see rounded corners if you only want a softened clip with no hardware round it.
A screen recording, demo or trailer works best. This page opens on Laptop at 16:9.
From the Devices category choose Dark laptop, Flat TV, Desktop monitor, Browser window, Dark browser window, Retro TV or Teal retro TV.
Frame thickness sets the bezel; Border width sets how much backdrop shows round the device.
Press Export video. High under Quality keeps small interface text crisp; then download the file.
The device takes up part of the canvas, so the screen inside is smaller than the full output. Record at 1080p or above and, under Export settings, leave Size at full and choose High quality; small menus and code stay readable that way. A 1080p source in a 16:9 frame gives a 1920×1080 file, the size most players and slides expect.
If your recording is not 16:9, such as a 16:10 laptop capture, it still fits: the video is never cropped, and the backdrop simply takes up any spare room.
The laptop and the computer bodies keep their own colours so they always read as hardware. Change what is behind them: From and To set the backdrop on gradient looks such as Laptop and Browser window, and Border colour sets it on the plain ones. Match a brand colour, or switch Background to Blur under More options for a soft wash of the video itself, the same trick used on the blurred background page.

Yes. Choose Flat TV for a modern set or Retro TV for a wooden cabinet with knobs. Both are drawn round your clip in every frame.
No. It is a plain drawing of a screen and keyboard base, with no logo, so you can use it in any presentation.
It will fit, but a tall screen on a laptop looks odd. For portrait footage choose one of the phones or a tablet in Devices.
Yes, where your browser can encode it: choose WebM under Format in Export settings. MP4 plays everywhere, so it is the safer default.
