To add a neon border to a video, open the clip above. This page starts on Pink and blue neon: a glowing tube that runs from hot pink to electric blue round the picture, on a near-black border with softly rounded corners. Change the tube colours under Look colours, then press Export video.

The Neon and glow category holds fourteen looks: eight single colours, two two-tone tubes, neon signs on brick walls, an arcade grid and a soft rounded halo. Neon reads best on dark footage and dark feeds, so it suits gaming highlights, club and bar promos and late-night city clips. For a phone screen, combine it with 9:16, as on the vertical video page.

How to give a video a neon frame

  1. Drop in the footage

Select the clip. The tool opens with Pink and blue neon already glowing round it.

  2. Choose the glow

Search the gallery for “neon” or open Neon and glow, then pick a single colour, a two-tone tube, Neon on brick or Neon arcade.

  3. Tune the tube

Frame thickness makes the tube thinner or bolder. Frame and Frame 2 under Look colours set its two ends.

  4. Export the clip

Press Export video, wait for the progress bar, and save the glowing version to your device.

Choosing a neon colour

Pick the tube against the footage, not on its own. Cool blue and violet glow against warm, orange-lit scenes; pink and red jump out of blue and green ones. Match video colours can suggest tones taken from the clip itself, read on your device, if you want the glow to feel part of the scene.

  • Neon pink, Neon blue, Neon green, Neon red, Neon yellow, Neon violet, Neon orange and Neon white: one colour all the way round.
  • Pink and blue neon and Lime and violet neon: a tube that shifts between two colours.
  • Neon halo: a soft pink tube with deeply rounded corners on a purple glow.

Neon signs, brick and arcades

Neon on brick and Blue neon on brick hang the tube on a dark brick wall, like a sign in a bar. Their Pattern and Pattern 2 swatches recolour the bricks and mortar, and Pattern size makes the bricks larger or smaller. Neon arcade sets a cyan-to-pink tube on a deep blue grid, made for gaming clips. If you like the tech look, the Tech and HUD category has sci-fi HUD frames in cyan and green.

Making the glow stand out

Glow needs darkness round it. Keep the border dark with Border colour, and give it some width: at 8 to 10% the light has room to spread. On a bright, sunny clip, a neon tube can look flat; a deeper Border colour or a slightly thicker tube brings it back.

Want something calmer for a daytime clip? A plain white border or rounded corners keep the focus on the picture.

Neon border questions

Can I choose my own neon colour?

Yes. Under Look colours, tap the Frame swatch, and Frame 2 on two-tone looks, and pick any colour. The glow follows it.

Can I use the neon frame as a live stream overlay?

No. It is drawn into a video file you export, not a transparent overlay for streaming software. Use it on recorded clips and highlights.

Will the neon glow look right on TikTok and YouTube?

Yes. The glow is part of the picture, so every app shows it. Fine glows can soften when a platform compresses the upload, so export at High quality.

Can I make the neon border thicker?

Yes. Frame thickness controls the tube; Border width controls the dark space round it.

Does adding a neon border crop my video?

No. The tube is drawn in the border round the picture, so the whole frame stays visible.
